DYW Moray is delighted to announce Wards Veterinary Centre as the recipient of the November Employer Recognition Certificate, celebrating their outstanding commitment to supporting young people across the region.
Wards Vets has demonstrated exceptional dedication to inspiring the next generation by actively engaging with schools, educators, and learners throughout Moray. Their team has consistently gone above and beyond to help young people explore skills, careers, and pathways within the veterinary and animal care sector. Showcasing the range of opportunities within the sector, and highlighting different pathways to get there.
Over the past year, Wards Vets has contributed significantly by:
- Participating in multiple school career fairs, for both primary and secondary pupils, offering young people hands-on insights and expert advice about working in veterinary practice.
- Delivering engaging class talks in both primary and secondary schools, helping young people understand animal welfare, veterinary roles, and the skills needed in the profession.
- Providing meaningful work placements for pupils, giving them real-world experience in a busy clinic environment and helping them build confidence and career awareness.
Their willingness to welcome students, answer questions, and share real-life experience has made a notable impact on learners’ understanding of career opportunities within their local community.
Emma Winchester, DYW Moray School Coordinator, on awarding the certificate said:
“Wards Vets consistently go out of their way to support our young people. Their enthusiasm and genuine commitment to developing skills and broadening horizons have made them a valued partner to schools across Moray. We’re thrilled to recognise their contribution with this month’s certificate.”
On receiving the award, Natalie McLennan, Head Nurse, said:
"We are really delighted to receive this award and to be recognised for the time we give to youngsters. We are always keen to advocate for our profession and help youngsters into the veterinary field. Young people are our future and they deserve to have opportunities which allow them to explore career and life options. We can all learn a little from the next generation as well as us helping to teach and inspire them. Everyone deserves opportunities"
DYW Moray extends heartfelt thanks to Wards Vets for their ongoing support and for playing a key role in helping young people gain the confidence, understanding, and experience they need to succeed.
