What attracted you to the industry you are in?

It was a summer job when I was still at school.

Describe your day-to-day role.

Start at 0630, sort the mail in office into all the delivery’s in Forres then sort you’re delivery area letters and parcels. Then go out on delivery for about six hours.

What kind of training have you done?

On my first day, I was out on delivery with a postman that knew the delivery and it was basically watching and learn. I haven’t completed any professional qualifications.

What skills have you learned?

Over the years, I have learned how to be professional in all situations.

Do you like living and working in Moray? Explain why/ why not.

Yes, it’s easy-going chilled out area was happy to stay local.

What skills are the most important for you to do your job well?

Being quick at sorting mail, ability to work on my own, remain calm in stressful situations, and work well with others.

How some of the public act.

Is there anything unusual about your role?

Sometimes people ask some strange things.

Do you get a lot of support from your company?

Yes, everything is available for all problems.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

Meeting the public getting a chat.

Did you always want to pursue a career in this industry?

I had never thought about it before starting my career.

What is your advice for young school leavers looking to start an apprenticeship?

Go for it and like what you plan to do. Don’t just do it for money.

Retirement 😉

How does it feel to be a KeyWorker on the frontline, supporting the Country’s fight against Covid-19?

It's been tough and stressful trying to stay safe for us. It’s been very busy with parcels. It’s all most been like Christmas for the last eight weeks.

Seeing the delight on some of the customer's faces it makes there day. For some, I’m the only person they see.
