Describe your career pathway after leaving school
After school, I studied a HND Practical Journalism at Glasgow Clyde College, while doing freelance football reporting for three years. Then I became a News Reporter in July 2018 at the Inverurie Advertiser, Ellon Advertiser and Turriff Advertiser weekly newspapers. Then I joined the Press and Journal in March 2020 as the country plummeted into lockdown.

What is your favourite thing about the work that you do?
Meeting different people and telling people's eye-opening stories.
Why did you want to work in this industry?
To meet different people and tell the important stories.
What does a typical day in your role involve?
Each day can vary. It can involve touching base with local contacts, looking through archives to see if there is any stories that we can chase for follow ups, filing Freedom of Information Requests to try to uncover details and much more.

What is your advice to young people who are considering working in this sector?
Do work experience at local papers, ask journalists for advice and practice writing.
