DYW Moray Employer Workshops: How To Successfully Engage With Young People

DYW Moray are running two different workshops for employers about how to successfully engage with young people on 3rd May at The Laichmoray Hotel, Elgin that you may be interested in. We have received great feedback on the workshops we have delivered in the past so we wanted to continue offering these in 2022.

These workshops are suitable for local employers who would like training on how to engage with young people. It will suit employers who currently engage with school and college young people, or those who plan to start engaging with them soon. By attending this workshop, you will also be able to better support young people in your workplace.

Both workshops are different, therefore, employers are welcome to attend both workshops if they wish. Please note: if you attended this workshop virtually in 2021, the same content will be delivered.

Please see the below, detailing the dates these workshops will take place. Complimentary lunch will be served for all attendees from 12pm-1pm.

How to present yourself to young people (3rd May 2022, 10am-12pm)

DYW Moray encourages and helps businesses to engage with and inspire young people while they are still in education. Being engaged in schools and colleges supports talent attraction and can build industry and brand awareness, work and life skills and career aspirations amongst the future workforce.

This workshop, and the 'How to create an activity for young people' workshop, are particularly relevant for organisations and individuals who currently engage with schools and colleges, or who want to start engaging with them.

From the workshops you will develop increased confidence to speak to a young audience, as well as understand what to expect during virtual meetings and presentations. In addition, you will get top tips to plan and deliver activities and receive free resources for use in preparing and delivering your sessions.

The aim of this session is to upskill Moray employers on how to present an engagement to young people, live and pre-recorded.

Workshop Outline:

  • Why engage with education?
  • Creating a “balanced” presentation
    • The “sandwich” structure
    • Using facts and opinions
    • Understanding and integrating with your audience
    • Getting across your key points

  • The importance of your own physiology (body language), including making eye contact in a presentation
