DYW Moray announces Scott Dunbar as the NEW Chair!
Scott Dunbar is the new Chair of DYW Moray
DYW Moray is delighted to announce that Scott Dunbar has officially taken on the role of Chair, marking an exciting new chapter for both the organisation and the wider community.
Developing the Young Workforce is a government-funded initiative designed to bring education and employers together for the benefit of our next generation and our economy as a whole. In Moray, this means helping young people build the skills, experience, and confidence they need to thrive, while also supporting local employers to connect with the talent of tomorrow. With the backing of employers, DYW delivers a wide range of activities in schools, from mock interviews and CV workshops to career talks and work experience opportunities.
Scott is well known in the Moray business community as a Partner at Johnston Carmichael, where he works closely with local organisations and understands both the challenges and opportunities they face. Stepping into the role of Chair, he will continue to strengthen the connections between employers and the next generation of talent.
He takes over from Jackie Andrews of UHI Moray, who has done a great job leading the board, and will be working alongside Vice-Chair Victor West and the wider DYW Moray board members. Scott has already been a strong supporter of the organisation, particularly during the launch of its independent economic impact assessment last year, which showed that every £1 invested in DYW Moray generates around £2 in value, a clear sign of its positive impact.
As Chair, Scott will help guide DYW Moray’s strategic direction, ensuring strong partnerships between schools, colleges, and employers. His leadership will support opportunities such as apprenticeships, work placements, and industry insights in classrooms, giving young people the tools to succeed while helping employers access the skills they need to grow.
Sarah Barnes, DYW Programme Manager said,
“Scott has been a fantastic supporter of our work, from attending careers fairs to delivering class talks and mock interviews. He understands the needs of young people and employers alike, which makes his appointment as Chair a really positive and natural step. We’re excited to have his leadership as we continue building opportunities that help young people thrive and strengthen our local business community.”
Scott commented,
“It is a real privilege to take on the role of Chair at DYW Moray. Having been born and raised here in Moray and built my own career from within our region I have a deep understanding of what it takes to bring those opportunities to life for our future generation. Our young people are the future of Moray’s economy, and it’s vital we continue building strong connections between education and local employers. By working together, we can inspire the next generation, create opportunities, and ensure Moray is a place where young talent can thrive”
