Local Construction Firm Recognised for Helping Develop Moray’s Workforce
A Moray construction company is being recognised for the steady and practical role it plays in supporting young people and jobseekers across the region.
Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Moray has named Tulloch of Cummingston as Employer of the Month, highlighting the firm’s sustained commitment to working alongside schools and employability partners throughout Moray.
For Tullochs, supporting workforce development is an ongoing part of how the business operates. The company regularly offers work experience placements, providing pupils with valuable time in live construction environments. These placements give young people a realistic understanding of how projects are delivered, the standards expected on site, and the range of trades and professional roles involved in modern construction.
Alongside work experience, Tullochs continues to invest in apprenticeships, creating structured routes into employment for local young people. By recruiting and supporting apprentices across different trades, the company is contributing directly to the long-term skills base within Moray and helping ensure that talent is developed and retained locally.
Engagement also takes place in classrooms and community settings. Representatives from Tullochs have delivered talks and sessions in both primary and secondary schools, helping pupils understand career pathways, entry routes and the skills valued by employers. School groups have also been welcomed onto active sites, offering first-hand insight into construction projects in progress and helping to connect subjects such as maths, science and design with real-world application.
Their support extends beyond school-aged learners. Tullochs has worked with older individuals participating in employability programmes, offering industry insight and encouragement to those considering retraining or returning to work. By opening their doors and sharing experience, the company has helped individuals build confidence and better understand opportunities within the sector.
In addition, Tullochs has provided input into curriculum review discussions within local schools, contributing employer perspective to help ensure that learning pathways remain relevant and aligned with current industry practice. This type of collaboration strengthens the link between education and employment and supports more informed career decision-making.
