Welder.

Learn how to weld, using various techniques and disciplines.

Learn how to set and operate a Welding Rotator machine.

Learn how to interpret technical drawings, understand standards and implement the requirements and translate into production methods.

Manufacture components for some of the key industrial sectors in the world: Agriculture, sanitation, oil and gas.

The Apprenticeship Program is designed to develop your expertise across a breadth of operational and technical areas of the business. Your plant-based training program is supported by the nationally recognized apprentice framework structure (PEO 2 SVQ/ Diploma in Engineering Manufacture and Fabrication SCQF Level 7).

Year one - Attendance at UHI Inverness full time for year one to study the NC Engineering Practice combined with on site assessment towards the achievement of the Performing Engineering Operations level 2

Years 2 - 4 , Working towards completion of the Diploma, 100% assessed on site in the workplace.

The successful candidate will be assessed in the workplace by a fully qualified assessor from UHI and support will be provided to the employer and the apprentice by a Training Coordinator throughout the programme.

The candidate: We are looking for candidates who are hardworking, reliable, trustworthy, and keen to learn and develop themselves within the Engineering Industry. You need to be able to demonstrate good communication and problem-solving skills and be able to work as part of a team.

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 National 5 awards, and 2 Highers, ideally including Maths and Physics.

Training rate when attending College will be in line with the national minimum, approximately £13,000 pa.

Hourly rate will increase when working on-site and in years 2 onwards.

College hours are dependent on the timetable set by UHI.

Working hours at the Elgin facility are Monday to Thursday – 07:45 – 16:45, Friday 07:45 – 13:50.
