DYW Moray Recognises Orbex Forres as Employer of the Month for January 2026
DYW Moray has named Orbex Forres as Employer of the Month for January 2026, recognising their exceptional commitment to inspiring and supporting young people across Moray. Orbex engages extensively with primary and secondary schools through careers fairs, hands-on STEM activities such as the Water Rocket and Straw Rocket Challenges and practical insights into careers in space. In 2025, Orbex delivered a dedicated educator session for secondary science teachers to strengthen awareness of career pathways into the space sector. Their work has helped spark curiosity, build skills and inspire future aspirations among pupils, while supporting teachers with valuable industry knowledge. DYW Moray praised Orbex’s passion for developing future talent and their ongoing positive impact on young people in the region.
DYW Moray is delighted to announce that Orbex Forres has been awarded Employer of the Month in recognition of their outstanding commitment to inspiring and supporting young people across Moray.
Orbex has demonstrated a strong and sustained commitment to developing future talent by engaging with primary and secondary schools across the region. Their team regularly supports school Careers Fairs, giving pupils valuable insight into careers in space, engineering, science and technology and helping young people understand the wide range of pathways available within the sector.
A key highlight of Orbex’s engagement with secondary schools this year has been the Orbex Water Rocket Challenge - an interactive session that allows pupils to apply STEM learning in a practical and exciting way. These sessions encourage teamwork, problem-solving and creativity, while sparking curiosity about careers in engineering and the space industry.
In 2025, Orbex delivered a dedicated Educator Session for secondary science teachers, designed to improve awareness of career pathways into the space sector. The session equipped teachers with current industry insights, real-world context and practical resources, enabling them to better inform and inspire pupils about opportunities in the space industry.
For primary schools, Orbex delivers the Orbex Straw Rocket Challenge, introducing younger learners to the fundamentals of science and engineering in a fun and accessible way. These activities help build early enthusiasm for STEM subjects and encourage pupils to start thinking about future aspirations from a young age.
Phil Chambers, CEO of Orbex, said:
“Everyone at Orbex is passionate about making space and engineering feel accessible and relevant to young people here in Moray. Our aim is to show pupils how STEM subjects translate into real-world skills and a wide range of career opportunities, including in the space sector. Our team takes great pride in supporting schools and teachers locally, and it’s great to be recognised by DYW Moray for this work.”
Caroline Russell, DYW Moray School Coordinator, added:
“We are absolutely delighted to recognise Orbex Forres for their commitment to young people. Their engagement with both primary and secondary schools, as well as their support for teachers, has created inspiring and meaningful learning opportunities in Moray.
