As part of their May senior phase programme, Elgin Academy, Forres Academy and Lossiemouth High School will be delivering the Insight into Apprenticeships Award in partnership with EDT (Engineering Development Trust).
This programme is designed to provide young people with a meaningful understanding of apprenticeship pathways, helping them to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to make informed decisions about their future.
We are seeking support from employers and industry professionals to bring this programme to life through a range of engagement opportunities. These sessions play a vital role in ensuring learning is relevant, authentic and directly connected to the workplace.
We are looking for employers to set a short, real-world project brief for pupils to work on (three different briefs are required in total). This could be based on a genuine challenge within your organisation or sector and should encourage problem-solving, teamwork and creativity.
Project Brief Delivery
12 May (1.00–2.30pm)
20 May (1.00–2.30pm)
21 May (9.30–10.30am)
You are welcome to:
- Deliver the brief in person and support pupils during the session, or
- Provide the brief in advance, with delivery supported by school staff
There is no expectation for one employer to cover all briefs, participation can be tailored to your availability.
Mock Interviews
19 May (1.00–2.30pm)
Support pupils by conducting short, structured mock interviews. This is a valuable opportunity to help young people practise interview techniques, build confidence and receive constructive feedback from employers.
Current Apprentice Q&A Panel
13 May (10.45am–12.15pm)
We are inviting current apprentices to take part in an informal panel session, sharing their experiences of entering and progressing through an apprenticeship. This provides pupils with relatable, first-hand insight into modern apprenticeship pathways.
Former Apprentice Q&A Panel
20 May (10.45am–12.15pm)
This session will feature individuals who have completed an apprenticeship and progressed in their careers. Pupils will gain an understanding of long-term career opportunities and the value of apprenticeships as a route into skilled employment.
If you are interested in supporting any of the above activities, we would be delighted to hear from you. Opportunities can be adapted to suit your availability and level of involvement.
