As part of their May senior phase programme, Elgin High School will be delivering the Insight into Apprenticeships Award in partnership with EDT (Engineering Development Trust).
This programme is designed to give young people a clear, realistic understanding of apprenticeship pathways, helping them to build the skills, confidence and awareness needed to make informed decisions about their future.
We are seeking support from employers and industry professionals to contribute to a range of engagement opportunities. These sessions are central to ensuring that learning is shaped by real-world insight and reflects current industry practice.
Project Brief Delivery
28 April (1.00–2.30pm)
We are looking for an employer to set a short, real-world project brief for pupils to work on during this session. This could be based on a current challenge within your organisation or sector and should encourage teamwork, problem-solving and creative thinking.
You can choose to:
- Attend the session to introduce the brief and engage with pupils, or
- Provide the brief in advance, with delivery supported by school staff
Mock Interviews
7 May (9.00–10.30am)
Support pupils by delivering short, structured mock interviews. This provides valuable experience of the recruitment process and allows pupils to build confidence while receiving constructive feedback from employers.
Current Apprentice Q&A Panel
30 April (10.45am–12.15pm)
We are inviting current apprentices to take part in an informal panel session, sharing their experiences of entering and progressing through an apprenticeship. This helps pupils gain relatable, first-hand insight into apprenticeship routes.
Former Apprentice Q&A Panel
7 May (10.45am–12.15pm)
This session will feature individuals who have completed an apprenticeship and progressed in their careers. Pupils will gain an understanding of progression opportunities and the long-term value of apprenticeships.
If you are interested in getting involved in any of the above opportunities, we would be delighted to hear from you. Engagement can be tailored to suit your availability and preferred level of involvement.
